The Viscofan Group is firmly committed to and ensures that its operations are based on the rule of law, ethical principles and fighting corruption. This is the commitment behind Principle 10 of the Global Compact “Companies have to fight corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery”. For that purpose, guidelines are laid down to guide behaviour of people in the sphere of action of the Group.
Firstly, the Code of Conduct concerns the prevention of any manner of corruption. This rule is applicable to 100% of its business units. This is also supported by the policy of Human Rights which, among its commitments, lays down that the Viscofan Group will fight corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
In particular, the Code of Conduct establishes the following: “as to fighting bribery and corruption, employees may not make or accept, directly or indirectly, payments, gifts or compensation in their commercial, professional or administrative relations, regarding either public or private institutions. Any commercial hospitality or gifts whose purpose is prohibited by law or by whatsoever regulation shall not be allowed, except for those specifically provided for in the Viscofan Group Commercial Hospitality Policy.”
The Global Risk Committee carries out an analysis of fraud risks, and its different forms are regulated in various policies; and sets specific controls and mechanisms to reduce their likelihood. Identified risks are conflict of interest and internal fraud, private corruption, and fraud and misleading advertising.
THE GROUP HAS MECHANISMS TO ADDRESS CLAIMS AND CONCERNS ON THIS MATTER, COVERED BY THE ETHICS COMMITTEE.
In 2017 no corruption case was received or confirmed leading the Ethics Committee to initiate an investigation or take actions.
